Thursday, October 15, 2026 | 12:00pm-2:00pm
Snow is predicted to fall outside the The Art, Design & Architecture Museum
at the University of California, Santa Barbara as part of a restaging of Bonnie Ora Sherk’s performance Snow Job (1970). Flavored snow cones will be given out and spectators are invited to enjoy themselves in a performance score writing workshop and durational performance presented by Ajani Brannum in the galleries. Formal attire is encouraged but not required.
Organized by the AD&A Museum and the Performance Art Museum, this program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Bonnie Ora Sherk: Life Frames since 1970, on view at the AD&A Museum through November 29. You can learn more about the AD&A Museum here.
Ajani Brannum (they/them) is an undisciplinary artist and researcher whose practice is a meditation on performance, embodiment, and selfhood. They have created spaces of encounter with REDCAT, ODC, Human Resources Los Angeles, Materials & Applications, Highways Performance Space, Los Angeles Performance Practice, in classrooms, on tabletops and screens, and when no one is looking. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, they hold an AB in English and a Certificate in Dance from Princeton University, and a PhD in Culture and Performance from UCLA.
This program is made possible by PAM’s Home for Performance Art Campaign fund, courtesy of Karen Hillenburg, Karyn Kohl, Tim Disney, Betsy Greenberg, Abby Sher, Laura Maslon, and January Arnall. This program is part of the multi-year initiative, High Performance: A 2-Year Conference (2025–2027), which celebrates and historicizes High Performance (1978–97), the first international magazine devoted exclusively to performance art. Through educational collaborations and programming, Bonnie Ora Sherk: Life Frames since 1970 highlights Sherk’s feature in the magazine.
