Performance Art in Chicago is a conversation moderated by Leon J. Hilton with key figures from Chicago’s performance art history and present. This program takes High Performance’s extensive engagement with Chicago’s flourishing performance art scene as a point of departure to explore how and why Chicago’s distinctive performance art culture emerged.

As part of the Circa: Queer Histories Festival, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE) and the Performance Art Museum (PAM) present a marathon of five-minute performances at STORIES: The AIDS Monument in West Hollywood under the theme of ACTION = LIFE.

Public Spirits is a daylong festival featuring new performance works by Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo), Pau S. Pescador, Da Ron Vinson, and Ryat Yezbick. Taking place in LA’s Chinatown in the lead-up to to the midterm elections, this festival uplifts performance as means of intervening into civic life in a spirit of resistance and criticality.

ENCOUNTER creates a place where ritual, task, movement, and improvisation merge, generating unexpected moments of genuine artistic connection. The series emphasizes trust in spontaneity and a commitment to active participation over passive observation.

A year-long project marking the 50th anniversary of Suzanne Lacy’s landmark 1976 performance Cinderella in a Dragster. Titled Cinderella Redux, this work revisits Lacy’s original exploration of speed, time, and identity through a contemporary lens, culminating in a live, public performance.

A 24-month reading series exploring all 76 issues, cover to cover. This drop-in group meets on the second Saturday of each month at PAM’s Education Center and is open to all.
